I voluntarily enlisted in the U.S. Navy 1969-1971. Following my military service, I was employed as an apprentice carpenter while attending night school.   While college was rewarding, I found greater personal and professional growth in the construction industry.

Over the next 16 years I worked my way up to Superintendent of a large construction firm with responsibility for numerous simultaneous projects.   I not only supervised numerous employees and contractors, I learned the business administration side of construction; managing payrolls, logistics, working with local and state government, and meeting project deadlines while staying within budget.   I eventually operated my own successful construction firm for several years.   I also subsequently owned and operated a successful cleaning company in the Lake Tahoe area for over 20 years.

In addition to learning a trade, I gained real experience in large scale problem solving, financial management of complex projects, and critical logistics and resource operations. Moreover, I learned to work with and for people with diverse backgrounds and skills.

When I retired, I looked for ways to serve the community we call home. Giving back has always been part of both my professional and personal life. With this in mind, I ran and was elected to the Carson City Board of Supervisors as Supervisor for Ward 4 from 2012-2016.  Today, our city and our citizens need representatives with a broad range of experience and skills if we are to change the governing of our city and responsibly grow our community.
